The birthday strut

I believe I have forgotten to mention that Adelaide is officially a walker. She took her very first steps - the kind that are kind of accidental where she falls right away - around 10 months.  And for the loooongest time she just preferred to crawl no matter how much we tried to get her on her feet.  And then about 2 weeks ago she just decided she was ready and just took off.  This video is a perfect example of why I should post videos much more quickly.  This was taken only like 4 days ago and already she is so much more stable and she can walk so far.

(she still enjoys putting on her fake laugh)

Some other things about Adelaide at age 1:

28 3/4 in long (50%)
18lbs 6oz (15%)
Claps (esp when she hears other ppl clap or when we say "yay")
Blows kisses
Gives (open mouth) kisses
Waves and says "hi,"
Signs "more" and "all done"
Puts EVERYTHING up to her ear like it's a phone and says "hi"
Knows where her ears, tongue and head are
Know where OUR nose, toes, and fingers are (i don't know why she won't point to her own)
Tries to put hats on her head and socks/shoes on her feet (unsuccessfully so far)
Can go up AND down the stairs by herself
Mimics lots of sounds, but doesn't really use them as words yet ("Da" when we say daddy, "Ma" when we say mommy, "Na" when we say Nacho, "May" or "me" when we say Amen)

Also, Adelaide is FINALLY loving books (she has never really liked sitting still long enough to listen to a book). She points at them and signs "more. more."  Her favorites are I Love You Through and Through by Bernadette Rossetti Shustak and What do you Say by Mandy Stanley. Each page of What do you Say asks what kind of noise you make to different animals. On the last page it asks "What do you say to a little fish?" and the answer is "Hello little fish!" Adelaide LOVES to wave at the little fish before we even turn the page. So cute.
