The Office

I love the women I work with. If I love nothing else about my job, I love the women I work with. Here we are on our way to a wonderful lunch and gift exchange last week.

Me and Brenda - who will be a wonderful wonderful full-time grandmother!!

Sandy and Jill bundled up and happy.

Here's our whole group at lunch with all our gifts. I love this one because our boss has her new salad bowl on her head. Karen... always surprising us.

In this one you can see Mrs. Erin Toohey's lovely face. Don't we look like a fun group to work with?

Parties of Christmastime

I think I thought there were a lot of Christmas parties and festivities in college. But this year in particular I have never been to more Christmas parties. They included:
  • The Olin Business School Staff Ornament Exchange
  • The Eliot Society Dean's Holiday Brunch (this one was actually work)
  • The Olin Business School Faculty and Staff Holiday Reception
  • The Olin Alumni and Development Gift Exchange (this is just my department)
  • The Alumni & Development potluck luncheon
  • David Blasingame's Alumni & Development Holiday Reception (this one I didn't end up going to)
  • plus two different ones with friends from church.

.... all within about 10 days. Needless to say, I was rolled all the way from St. Louis to the Carolina's this year. I took very few pictures, but this was a particularly fun white elephant with some friends from our church... where we saw and received some particularly interesting gifts.

Susan Peck and her GIGANTIC bronze basketball award from the Pollacks.

This wasn't actually ours. It was another gift from the Pollacks to the Pecks. But Yanni looked so good that Schub just HAD to take his picture with him.

This, in fact, was our gift. Chinese vodka of some kind. It was like 60% alcohol or something crazy like that. I promptly gave it away at another white elephant exchange about 3 days later.

No Actually I'm Schub the Presbyterian

I know I haven't posted in a while, but after what happened at dinner tonight I figured it was time for me to emerge from my hiding spot.

So, me and Lindsey went out to eat at Sweet Tomatoes, this salad bar type place (think Golden Corral with no meat). Well you enter the place and your back is turned to all of the eaters while you are getting your food. So we load our plates with lettuce and pay. And as we turn to corner and are looking for our seat i spot this little kid out of the corner of my eye. He is standing up on his chair pointing at me and yells. "Hey Daddy look, it's John the Baptist!" His whole family bursts into laughter, along with me and Lindsey. It was funny. So funny in fact that I would randomly crack up again while Lindsey ate her Smoked Turkey and Apple salad and I feasted on my Locust and Honey Medley.

Our first and last Covenant Christmas Banquet

Jason and I finally attended the annual Covenant Christmas Banquet this year. It was lots of fun and we got to hang with some of our neighbors at our table. Also, the bottom picture is one of Jimmy Agan with mad dance moves. It was quite incredible. I didn't get any pictures of Jason, but he looked good too :-)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Okay, so they're not the best pictures, but we're all decorated for Christmas in our little apartment! (not pictured: christmas dish towels in the kitchen)

Thanksgiving!

Well, we had a really really wonderful Thanksgiving. I took tons of pictures, so I won't put them all here. But you can click here to view the album on facebook if you'd like.

We spent Thanksgiving in Huntington, West Virginia with some of our very best friends, the Moores. Hunter and Jeannie and Hunter's family were all there, and we LOVE to be with them. This is the second Thanksgiving in a row that we've spent with them. As much as we both really missed our families over the weekend (my aunt, uncle, granmother, and sister Dana were all at my parents' house!), the Moore's have really come to feel like family to us. We had SUCH an awesome time, and laughed so much that we could hardley breathe, which is always a good feeling :-)

The feasting table... complete with football in the background.

Schub and Hunter partaking in pre-dinner Crispy Goodness (just the crispy skin of the fried turkey)

The whole crowd at the Thanksgiving table! We really really appreciate how Gary and Marilyn open their home to so many people at the holidays. They are so incredibly hospitable and are a great example to us.

our game faces (playing flag football)

Me and Jeannie before Garrett's show.

Hunter's brother Garrett is a musician in Atlanta and was able to schedule a show in Huntington while he was home for Thanksgiving. It was really fun to see him play live! He was hands down the best of the evening.

We went out to a movie (Boy in the Striped Pajamas - REALLY sad) and dinner for Marilyn's birthday on Saturday. This is Hunter's Chinese dessert plate... notice the Clemson colored Jello.

The Schuberts and Moores!!

Hunter and Jeannie - we can't wait to see you guys again.... hopefully at New Year's here in the Lou! Let us know!

Welcome Baby Ada!

Congratulations to our friends the Walkers on little baby girl Ada Jackson Walker! I love it when other people have babies :-)

We're off to Huntington, WV for Thanksgiving! We'll miss being at home, but we will enjoy being with our wonderful friends the Moores! And we will live it up in what was just named the unhealthiest city in America. Fried turkey, here we come!

We love the picture, Mom & Dad!

My parents got a frame for a picture that we were wanting to hang while they were here a few weekends ago. This is mostly for them, so they can see what it looks like. Mom, we lowered it, too, so it is an appropriate distance from the top of the couch. Here are a few pictures... and then the video. Nobody else needs to watch the video really - it would probably be incredibly boring for anyone other than my mother.

Time with some friends

On Friday night we had a good old fashion game night with some friends. These guys all met their first year in school because they all have the same scholarship. They happen to all be cool dudes who happen to have all married really cool ladies. We are usually able to hang out about once or twice a semester... and it's always a good time! The quality of the pictures aren't that great, but at least everyone is smiling!

Joe & Josie... this one was my favorite :-)
