And he's here!

Beckett Tillman Schubert
August 21, 2012
8lbs 6oz, 20 inches

minutes old

Meeting big sister for the first time

hanging out, waiting to be discharged from the hospital
catching some z's at home
And Adelaide loves having "Bebett" in the house.  She particularly loves taking the pacifier OUT of his mouth when he is sleeping soundly.  Hope she continues to enjoy him... and learns to love him a little more gently :-)

You can tell here he's a little unsure about all the love from A. haha.

Hopefully we keep taking pictures to post on here!  Life with instagram makes it way easier to put things on facebook.

Ok. time for a nap.

On pregnancy

Well, here's the last pregnant picture I took of myself.  It was at 37 weeks, and, ironically, I thought I was at the VERY end of my pregnancy.  Little did I know I would be sitting here at 41 weeks, ONE MONTH LATER, with still no baby. Oh well.  He will be here tomorrow and I am ready, to say the least.

And in case you missed it on facebook, here is the now famous "Push Cake" that my great friend Amy made me on my due date. Although we managed to eat the whole thing is less than a week, it did not help Baby Boy Schubert come at all.  Neither did the free reflexology session that my friend Michelle did on me.  Neither did the walking several miles a day, riding my bike at 40.5wks pregnant, chasing Adelaide around at Open Gym, lifting heavy items, walking up and down the stairs many times a day, or the number of other things I tried.  The Push Cake sure was good though.

Notes on this pregnancy:
- The heartburn was baaaad. If there is any truth to the wives tale that it has to do with how much hair he has, then he will definitely at least as much hair as Adelaide had
- Without any specific embarrassing numbers, I gained 18lbs LESS this time than I did with Adelaide (check out my face in this pic). I am pretty happy about this. I think it is partly due to being at home and being more active as opposed to sitting at a desk at work [eating] all day, and partly just due to this pregnancy being different. I haven't been as sick, therefore haven't felt the need to eat as much, and I think I just grew differently with this boy.
- My favorite treats this pregnancy have been McDonald's iced coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts. mmmmmm. hopefully I can keep those up for a little while I'm breastfeeding... right?!?
- At 35wks, this boy already measured 6lbs 4oz.  If he gained the potential .5lbs/week in the last couple weeks, then we are about to meet a BIG baby.
- I keep referring to "him" as "Baby Boy Schubert" and in other general terms, as if it will be a big surprise when we announce the name.  In reality, Jason and I have told the name to anyone, friend or stranger, who has asked, and Jason has been referring to "him" by name on facebook for weeks.  Maybe some of you will still be surprised when we give the big announcement tomorrow.

Well, I certainly have better things to be doing than blogging at 8:30pm when we have to leave the house at 4am tomorrow.  The next post will be the one we have all (especially me!) been waiting for!  Can't wait for you all to meet our little man with us!

While I have the time...

Why hello. Anyone still there?? I was certainly hoping to have had a baby by now and not have any time to ever post these pictures.  But alas, we are still waiting on our baby boy (induction set for Tuesday if nothing happens between now and then), and Adelaide and I are both home sick from church this morning.  So I guess that gives me a little time to put up some pictures from this summer.

Run down of the summer since my last post:
- Took a two week trip to many places between here and St. Louis so that Jason could go to General Assembly in Louisville, KY and we could visit some friends.
- Hung out around home for a couple weeks. My parents got to come visit.
- Took a spur of the moment trip down to Charlotte to get in some extra time with Dana and Brad while they were back from China for a few weeks. I was supposed to leave with a friend and her two kids (3yrs & 1month old) right after church on a Sunday, but when Jason got home he realized my car was leaking something in the driveway. So all 5 of us loaded up in Jason's truck to make the 6hr drive... and then the battery died on the way and we spent about 2 extra hours sitting at McDonalds. (36wks pregnant)
- Went to the beach with my family for a few days (37wks)
- Dana and Brad and Leila came to visit for a week (38wks)
- Helped with the preschool room at VBS (39wks)
- waited and waited and waited for baby... and changed my induction date 3 times... and got sick in the meantime. (40-41wks)

Just looking cute before church one morning.

The family (Jason couldn't make it and Mike's sister Shannon had already left) *pic by sister Brooke

That's about all I have as far as pictures (and you'll notice I didn't even take any at the beach... or in St. Louis or when the Hedgepeths came to visit).

Also, completely unrelated, but my sister Brooke is an amazing photographer and my sister Dana and her family are beautiful subjects. If you have a moment you should check out the pictures that Brooke snapped before Dana, Brad and Leila had to go back to China.

We've had a great summer and are totally ready to add Schubert #4 to the family in the next few days!
