You know Adelaide doesn't feel well....

... when she'll sit and listen to 5 books in a row.

Homegirl pretty much hates to be held and doesn't sit still for any amount of time. She is not a snuggler. So besides the facts that she doesn't want to eat, has had a 102 fever, and has been a little extra cranky (did I mention she's getting 3 teeth?), I was really sure she didn't feel well when she sat through 5 books this morning.  Literally sat - no squirming or grabbing, eating or completely ignoring the books.

This is Adelaide yesterday... after crying and crying and not sleeping most of the afternoon, we went outside to watch Schub and Patrick work on our fence (more on that later!).  She just watched and chowed down on her nice, cool, refrigerated froggie teether.

Doesn't she look pathetic?

Even though I'm pretty sure this fever is teething-related, we stayed home from church this morning just to be safe. I am missing church (was in FL last week and will be in Charlotte next week, so it will be 3 weeks of me not seeing my Grace family!), but I am soaking up the reading time with my girl today and praying that these teeth come in quickly and that she feels better soon!

Day trip!!

to MIAMI!!!

Jason gave me the biggest-hugest-most-ginormous surprise while we were in Florida and took me to Miami for like half a day (it was only about an hour from where we were staying... and let's be honest... that's like NOTHING for us anymore considering it takes me almost 45 minutes to get to Target these days. Getting to Miami was just like going to Target and back!).

What did we do in Miami, you ask???????

um.... please forgive my hair in these pictures. confession: a bunch of my hair fell out after i had Adelaide (please tell me that's normal) and now I have all these short little whispy pieces in the front that apparently stick to my forhead like awful bangs when my hair gets wet. Of course I didn't realize it until i saw the pictures. oh well.

I got to mark swimming with dolphins off my bucket list. We went to the Miami Seaquarium and got to be in the water with these super amazing animals for about 45 minutes. It was so so incredible! LOTS of fun.

On our way back we went to downtown Miami just to check it out and get a bite to eat.

The back side of this quite... um... interesting statue at the edge of the park.

We got food at this taco truck we spotted...

... and took it over to the water to eat at the edge of the city :-)

 mmmm.... fish tacos!

Then we hurried back to maximize time with the fam for the afternoon!  It was a fabulous vacation that went by way to fast.  Summer please don't end!!!

Favorite beach pics

This is a favorite for obvious reasons... that is, Brad in his little Chinese man hat :-) And Dana looking cute as ever, of course.

This isn't the greatest picture, but i love the capture of the whole Brown family in the water together. the cutest.

Florida vacay

This past week we went to Pompano Beach, FL for my grandmother's 90th birthday party and a little family vacation. It was really special because so much of my extended family that I rarely ever see got to come down for the celebration, and of course Dana and Brad were back from China for the first time in a year!! And they got to meet Adelaide!! It was a really great week and went by waaaay to fast. Here are a few highlights:

Adelaide finally met her Aunt Dana and Uncle Brad!!

She also took 3 steps!! (this is not a picture of that... the actual event took place in a walk-in closet)

We had a big party for my Grandma's 90th birthday (please notice my dad in the background of this picture... i think he must be directing a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday).

We played (and watched other's play) in the pool.

We found and ate coconut...

And drank the coconut milk...

... and played with the coconuts

We hung out with our cousins.

Adelaide met her Great-Grandma for the first time

We hung out in the hammock.

Hung out watching the waves

And of course spent lots of time down at the beach :-)

We are family

Not the greatest pictures here, but I had to capture as much as I could of our rare family time!

I love this last one of my mom and her siblings.
