Roll out....

Sorry for the lack of posting (Brooke). We've been super busy, but having an awesome time enjoying our last few days in St. Louis. We were supposed to pick up the moving truck in 30 minutes, but now they're saying it won't be ready until 11:30.. bummer. So we're trying to move as much stuff as possible into as few rooms as possible so we can start cleaning the apt. Everything has to be done by 4:00 this afternoon!! We're staying with the wonderful Ortlunds tonight and then heading out first thing in the morning, staying with Hunter and Jeannie tomorrow night and then Saturday we will arrive in KING GEORGE, VA! woot woot.

pray for us if you think about it... it will be a crazy 3 days! THEN I'll post pictures. promise.

GRADUATION!

So it's official!! Jason Christopher Schubert is d-o-n-e with seminary (and in case anyone didn't catch my paper chain, I am exactly 1 week d-o-n-e with work). All of our family came in town and we had an AWESOME time. I'm pretty sure we did every free thing St. Louis has to offer. It was so so great to spend such a special weekend with Jason's parents, my parents, my two sisters, our brother-in-law and our nephews.

AND the big news of the weekend is that Jason was honored with the J. Oliver Buswell Jr. Historical and Systematic Theology Award at graduation. It was completely unexpected for any of us, and Jason even almost missed hearing his name announced when his mind wandered while they were describing the award, thinking about all the other guys they could be giving it to. I am so so so proud of him and feel so privileged to have been able be with Jason through his time at seminary and experience all that he has been learning.

More pictures of the festivities with the fam to come...

See you later, Drew

Today our friend Drew Miller passed away. Schub and I knew Drew from Clemson, and although we haven't seen him and his wife Cheryl in a while, I definitely have really fond memories of Drew. Drew's life was way too short, but it was full, and there are a ton of people who love him dearly. More importantly, Drew knew the Lord, so I will be priviledged enough to see him again one day, in a place where there is no more pain or suffering or heartache.

I was going through my old pictures from Clemson tonight looking for one picture of Drew in particular. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it. But it was this hilarious picture of Drew in this wierd crouch position on the beach and I told him he looked like Smigel from Lord of the Rings. ha. It wasn't very complimentary of me, but he sure looked funny :-) As you can see from my memories below, Drew was tons of fun to be around. Drew, you be missed dearly.

He even let [this was either April or Cullie, I think] draw on his toes. What a generous man.

This was from our crazy water gun fight in the hotel halls at GCC. Ingenious Drew, wrapped himself in hotel towels so he could participate and not get too wet. ha.

Nuggets of Wisdom

The other night some of the faculty wives hosted a dessert fellowship for wives of graduated MDiv dudes. I am soaking up every chance I get to hang out with our seminary friends these days since we only have 3 weeks left in St. Louis!! Some of the ladies took a class that was offered this semester that was all about life in ministry. We got to hear some of their "nuggets of wisdom" (as Mrs. Douglass called them) that they gleaned from the class and also hear from some of the faculty wives. Oh, and we got flowers.

My great great friends Esther and Robyn!

Some of the Crossroads ladies that were there... with our dear Lisa Vandermaas. We've gotten lots of "nuggets" from her over the years.

Elisa got a new "Posh Spice" haircut. So we all communicated how much we liked it by giving the Posh Spice face to the camera. Notice Elisa's hot haircut in the middle.

I will miss these women. a lot.

Lambert's

The name "Lambert" is significant in several ways. It's the name of St. Louis' airport. It's the name of the future American Idol (go Adam!). And it's also the "Home of the Throwed Rolls." Last weekend my coworkers took Jason and I to Lambert's: Home of the Throwed Rolls. That's right. They throw rolls at you from across the restaurant. This is considered a St. Louis experience, even though the restaurant is about 2 or 2.5 hours south of St. Louis. But I was told that the experience was worth the drive, so we took an afternoon and two cars worth of Olin A&D staff down to Sikeston, MO for Lambert's. The drinks were huge, the tea was sweet, the fried okra was hot, and the rolls were "throwed". It was fun.

Erin with the cup that covered her face.

Shannon glorying in the taste of real sweet tea.

Dolly, excited about her FROG LEGS!

Ashley and TJ - also enjoying frog legs. Yes, two people at our table actually got frog legs.

She's A Cowgirl...On a Steel Horse She Rides!!!

I Married A Biker Babe....I Mean a Green Girl.... I Mean My Wife Started Riding A Bike to Work!! This plan has been in the works for quite a while, but daylight savings time and the St. Louis winter put it on the back burner. Well we ain't saving daylight no more and spring has sprung so Lindsey is burning up the pavement......

First she cross-checks all of her safety equipment.

Then she mounts her "steel horse" giving a "both sets" smile to the camera.

Then she is offfffffffffffffffffffff....................

Here is her route if you want to trace it....I think you can do Google Street View and experience the trip for yourselves.....that is if you think you are up to it...
