Stylin' and Profilin'

Lindsey's been thinking about trying out a new haircut. So she starting copying pictures of hairstyles she liked and saving them. She's found a couple she is pretty fond of and she emailed them to me to ask me what I thought. One of them in particular I found a little interesting. Don't get me wrong, the hair style looks good and I think Lindsey may try it out, but it's not this lady's sense of hair style that caught my eye. It was her fashion sense.

Nursery Doodie

So, Jason and I both had nursery duty on Sunday, but I had nursery doodie on Sunday. I don't know how it happened. There were definitely two other people in there who more experienced with babies and diapers than I was.

The first time went down like this: Jason playing nicely with all the little boys looks over to me and says "Lindsey, I think I smell somethng. Will YOU take him and check his diaper?" so after coaxing him away from the trains, I took him into the bathroom, and sure enough, poop bomb #1 in a CLOTH DIAPER! Now, I know you're supposed to be able to just take those things off, put the poopy in the toilet, flush, and replace baby's bottom with a clean one. But 1. the changing table is clear across the room from the bathroom. There is no way I could do all that smoothly or cleanly all in one place. 2. this was not a poopy that would just roll right out of the cloth diaper into the toilet. It was settled and smeared quite nicely into the cloth and was not going anywhere without me sticking my whole hand and the entire diaper into the toilet. And there is no washer machine to throw it into afterwards. So what did I do? I changed the kid into a new diaper and put the cloth one - poopy on the inside, but dry on the outside - into a plastic bag and handed it to the mom when she came to pick him up.

Nursery Doodie #2: This sweet mom asked me to ask her little girl if she need to go potty about 30 minutes into nursery, which I did. But what little kid would go to the potty when she could play with plastic food in a big plastic kitchen instead? So then it came again... that smell. So i FINALLY convinced the sweet little girl to come to the bathroom with me. She is pretty potty trained, but thank goodness the smart mother had put a diaper on her anyway. Not that it did tons of good. By the time I got to her, it had already leaked out of the diaper into her tights. SICK. I knew I had to take her tights off, but there was no way I could get her shoes off, tights off, diaper off, wipe her buns clean - all while holding her dress up so it doesn't get poopy too. Once again, if the changing table were closer to the bathroom, I could have laid her down, but it was too late for that. So I called Jason over to help. Somehow, I don't know how, in all the chaos, I got a little smear of poop on my FINGER. I started to panic, which makes sweet little girl look up at me and start to cry. It was awful. but I was able to get the dirty diaper in the trash, the clean diaper on the baby's bottom, and the tights... you guessed it. into a plastic bag that i handed to the mom when she came to pick her up.

Wouldn't you know that I was also teaching 2-year olds in Sunday School that same morning. Sunday School hour begins with all kids of all ages singing songs together. Just when I thought I was in the clear, one of the Sunday School coordinators comes up behind me and whispers in my ear "Do you feel comfortable changing diapers? Little Johnny has a poopy." And so Little Johnny and I went, crying all the way down the hall, back to the changing table that is no where near the bathroom.

That was my morning of nursery doodie.

A New Year

Our wonderful wonderful friends Hunter and Jeannie came all the way from West Virginia to St. Louis for New Year's. We invited the Edgings (fellow Clemsoners) and the Barretts (Nebraska-ers) to stir up some friendly competition before the big bowl game on Friday. Everyone brought a game and we played them all throughout the evening. We kept score by couple, and at the end the couple with the most points got to pick which game they wanted to take home. Everyone went home with a game and we had lots and lots of fun!

Mom, this picture is for you. Look. I'm using the Christmas plate you gave me for Christmas! AND I provided veggies at the party. I added celery and cucumber to this plate as well.

And Trish, there were exactly eight people, so we used all the Christmas plates that YOU gave us too! They were perfect. Our mothers were very present at the New Year's gathering :-)

Hunter and Jeannie... still in love after 7 hours in the car.

Dan and Belinda.

... and Brooke (these two pictures of you guys seperately were way better than any I had of the two of you together. haha).

Schub obviously had a really good time playing this game... and it happens to be the one we went home with!

Hunter and Jeannie explaining their game to us.

I believe a good time was had by all... especially the Edgings who were the winners of the evening!

A Moobert Relocation: St. Louis

I took so many pictures over New Years with the Moores in town that i have to make this two posts.

Jan. 1 was supposed to be a fun day for Clemson football. That was until they lost. There's one thing I know... It wasn't because Hunter and Jeannie didn't have enough Tiger spirit.

This might have been when Nebraska was still behind. I think we had a conversation where Hunter said something like "Clemson always has a good first half and a terrible second half." And Dan said something like "Nebraska always gets behind early and then manages to come back." It was all down hill from there.

The Clemson fans were sad (I think you were supposed to make a sad face, Brooke).

The Nebraska fans were happy.

We took the Moores to visit the FAMOUS arch. Or as Jeannie called it, the ark.

And of course, we rocked out with the Edgings.

I call this one "Jeannie with Guitar."

I call this one "A Regular Bobby Sherard"

Ah yes... fun times... always.

We definitely made it to the science center.

And while we were there, Jeannie did a show for everyone on her laser harp.

And Schub did acrobatics on the balancing beam.

We always have so much fun with the Moores!! Which holiday is next??

Spink Spank Spunk

On the (out of our) way home from Christmas, we stopped in Huntsville, AL to see Will, Christy and Caitlyn, our long-lost, much-loved neighbors from Atherton. The visit was so fun but went by way way too quickly!!

Caitlyn and Schub bonded like girls in a beauty salon. Caitlyn just couldn't get over Schub's beautiful, full-bodied, curly beard.

We had so much fun with you guys!! Please please please see us again soon!!

The Day the Browns Came to Town

The day after Christmas, my sister and her awesome family came to Summerville! The weekend was pretty much packed with fun times. It began by wrestling with Uncle Jason as soon as they got through the door.

(note: you may think it was night time when they arrived b/c Miles is wearing pajamas. It was actually about 3:00 in the afternoon.)

Bring on Christmas round 3!!

Miles and Noah in the Ninja Turtle get-ups that we got for them.

Sweet Griffin with his mommy.

Brooke and Dana boxing on the Wii that the Browns got as their family present for Christmas. Brooke was undefeated until I came into the ring. I took her DOWN TO CHINA TOWN!

Mike watching in approval as his wife virtually beats up on the other females.

who knows? Let's just say it's pretty clear we all had a really good time. Brooke's blog has even more pictures of fun times... in case you're REALLY interested in the Clerico Christmas Vacation.

Christmas 2008

We had such a wonderful Christmas break. We got to see a lot of friends and spend time with both of our families. We spent our first few days home in Charlotte with Jason's parents and got to spend an afternoon with his extended family too. They gave us an awesome Christmas! Complete of course lots of stocking stuffers, a few gift cards, and (drumroll...) a GPS! We were so excited and really surprised by the GPS! We are totally loving it and haven't gotten lost since Christmas :-)

Then we went to my parents' house. The night we got there my parents had an open house and we invited a bunch of my friends from high school. It was so so great to see everyone. I do have pictures from that, but they haven't made the transfer to my computer yet. My sister Dana was home as well, and we had an awesome and completely RELAXING Christmas. Here a few shots from Christmas day.

Schub lookin' good in one of his new hats.

AND he learned how to prepare the turkey (this picture isn't actually of the turkey, but he did learn how to do that)! Before we know it, my dad will be sitting back letting us do all the work.

some of my loot :-)

It was so so beautiful in Charleston. Christmas day was about 75 degrees and sunny. Here are Jason and Dana reading on the back porch while the turkey cooked. so relaxing.

It was so nice out, that we decided to have Christmas dinner on the relatively new screened in back porch. It was so nice, and again, relaxing.

It was a wonderful Christmas that came and went way too quickly!!
