Baby Love

My sister Brooke just posted pictures from my shower this weekend. Instead of taking the time to post all the same pictures, I'll direct you all OVER THERE (oh yeah... and definitely check out her blog if you are interested in finding out our little girl's name!)

I am so grateful for my two sisters who threw me this shower, and I amazed at the amount of family and friends who came to celebrate with us. The day could not have been more perfect. Everything was beautiful. All the food was delicious. All the gifts were so generous. All the people were so fun. I felt so loved.

fat feet.

In the last week or so my feet have begun to get REALLY swollen at the end of the day. Usually it's only really bad when I've been outside or on my feet a lot, and then they're better when I wake up the next morning. But for some reason after the 6 hour drive home from Charlotte on Sunday night, they seemed worse than ever. And they were not much better when I woke up yesterday morning. Then Jason and I did errands for a couple hours last night.  I was so so tempted to hijack one of those electric scooters at Target, but I didn't for fear that some little old lady would come in and really need one and not have it.  By the time we got out of Target my feet were so big that my cute strappy sandles were cutting in to my skin and being engulfed by the hugeness of my feet. Looking at them, I couldn't stop thinking that they looked like a blown up latex glove.  You know, really fat all through the middle with little round sausage-shaped things sticking out.

I know you all needed to hear about that. Actually, I'm sure you didn't, but I couldn't help sharing.

29 weeks.

I was in Charlotte this weekend for a baby shower. It was fun and I got loaded down with baby stuff. Brooke was the only one taking pictures, so I don't have any pictures of the shower to share yet. But she did send me these of my 29 week belly. enjoy.

oh Nacho...

Just after I finished - actually it was probably simultaneously - doting on my dog and telling the world how cute he is, we went outside to discover that Nacho had escaped from the back gate (someone with a big truck whose name rhymes with "mason" might have left it open). Don't worry, he hadn't gone far. He stopped right behind the house and was eating the poop of an unknown animal.

Yes... what a cutie.

Thankful for a cute dog

Sooo... my Nacho picture was a favorite pick this week at I Heart Faces! I must say, I was pretty excited to see my picture up there and get to "grab a button" for the blog. I totally could not believe it. But I guess with a dog so cute, how could they resist? Then again, all the pet pictures were super cute. You will have to go check out the winners. The pictures are amazing. (By the way, not sure how We Are Schuberts became "We are Schumberts" on the website... it's quite possible that I mistyped it when I entered. But yeah, that's us.)

We are currently repainting that dresser (yay for a day off work!), so it will be nice to have that project out of the way since I think between now and Oct. 3 will be pretty busy.  And it's already hard enough to bend over and paint at the size I am now... I couldn't imagine trying to do it in two months.  Hope everyone had a fun 4th!

The Harvest!

A couple weeks ago we were extremely excited to find our first cucumbers in our garden! We were so proud that we picked these three little guys and snapped their picture a few times.

Then not more than a week later, we found out that these little guys had some friends... that were much much bigger.
Since then we have had way more cucumbers than we know what to do with... and there are a lot more coming!  We have been giving them away and eating them almost every night with dinner. Jason even put some on his pizza tonight.

The tomatoes and peppers are growing slowly but surely. We should have some nice ripe tomatoes within the next week or so and hopefully the bell peppers won't be far behind. Also, we have more herbs (cilantro, basil, oregano, sage, lavendar and rosemary) than we know what to do with. So if you are in King George and want any herbs or cucumbers PLEASE let us know.

Schub's first Father's Day

For Schub's combo Bday/Father's Day present, I "got" him a new grill. I say "got" because I had the idea and gave him a set of grill tools for his bday (June 8) with the idea that we would then go pick out a grill at Home Depot or something. I thought about actually purchasing a grill and bringing it home to him, but I'm glad I thought better of that. My ESTJ husband spent the next 7+ days researching the best grills and ended up ordering one that was not available in the store. It arrived the Friday before Father's Day, so guess what we did on Friday night? That's right... assembled our grill so we could use it on Saturday.  Then on Sunday for Father's Day he asked some neighbors over for our first grilled flank steak.  Yuuummmmmmm!!!!

How delicious does that spread look? We had flank steak, grilled zucchini, this salsa salad stuff, bruschetta, and watermelon. (In the background you can see the dresser we are going to refinish for the baby's room and piles and piles of stuff that we don't have a place for yet.)  It was an awesome meal with great company, and Schub is still loving his grill (and I am loving the bounty of the grill)!

27 weeks...

... and looking huge. Seriously, I am always shocked by these pictures. And I'm not exactly loving this one (no makeup on and had just been laying out in the hammock for like 2 hours). So if you're first thought was "WOAH! LINDSEY IS SOOOOO BIG!" then I kindly ask that you refrain from leaving that in the comments and just say it outloud to yourself instead. thanks :-)  I mean, they say the camera adds 10 lbs, right? yeah... let's just go with that.

Nothing really to report on the pregnancy front. I'm only throwing up about once a week now, which I can handle. But I will definitely be glad when I can eat a bowl of cereal with confidence that I can keep it down. I take my glucose test this Thursday, so I hope everything comes out normal there. And I am entering my 3rd trimester so I'll start going to the doctor every 2 weeks now which is crazy!!

We haven't started putting the nursery together and I haven't read any parenting books. We are hoping to start refinishing a dresser this weekend and we plan to do the nursery after our beach vacation the first week of August (the room that will be the nursery is currently Jason's office so we just can't kick him out too soon). I've heard a lot of good things about Happiest Baby on the Block, so I think I'm going to plan to read that. Any other suggestions??  Otherwise, no news... just growing... obviously!
