All These things that I've done

(That's a Killers reference, for the record... you know "I got soul but I'm not a soldier...")

So, you know how whenever you take vacation days it's because you actually have to go somewhere or do something, and you never just take time off to stay home and get things done and relax?? Well, thanks to the gazillion inches of snow we've I haven't been to work since last Thursday. Some people are starting to complain and get stir crazy. I, on the other hand, am loving every minute of doing nothing. Here are the things that I have done in the last week or so:

  • Watched several hours worth of House Hunters/My First Place
  • Thoroughly cleaned the entire downstairs
  • Thoroughly cleaned 2 of the 3 bathrooms
  • Washed, dried, folded, and put away about 4 loads of laundry
  • Walked Nacho and Jaz several times
  • Dinner with neighbors (x3)
  • Started several books - finished none
  • Made a CD for and wrote a letter to a friend moving to Australia
  • Slept in AND taken naps
  • Researched and reserved a place for us to all get our nails done the day before Dana's wedding (what a good little bridesmaid I am)
  • Today I watched Fame for the first time and quite enjoyed it.
  • Watched American Idol with neighbors
  • Bothered Jason while he tries to work.
  • Snuggled with Nacho (x1million)
  • Read blogs/facebook
  • Stayed in my pajamas til approximately 3p.m. every day.
  • Caught up on NCIS, CSI: NY, and Numbers
  • Went grocery shopping once, between snow storms. That place was CrAzY.
  • Not exercised at all (10K on March 27 here I come...)

I had actually already taken Friday off this week because Schub and I are going on a leadership retreat with the church staff/elders. So if work got canceled just one more day, that would be fabulous. That means we could leave at 4:00 with everyone else instead of when I get home at 5:30, and that would mean that I would have had an entire free week from work without having to use my vacation days. And that would mean I wouldn't have to pack tonight. Supposedly they have actually closed all roads in the Baltimore are b/c they are so bad - only emergency vehicles are allowed to drive. Not that I hope the Southern Maryland roads are dangerous, but hopefully they are just bad enough to keep the college closed one more day. Then I PROMISE on Monday I'll be ready to go back.

Somebody Ordered a Blizzard!!!

It's been snowing for over 24hrs. There are 13-18 inches on the ground depending on where you measure. It's still snowing! Our neighbors are stuck in San Diego until Monday. We have their dog. We are inside staying warm and taking pics from the porch. Soon we will go to another neighbors and eat chicken. Church is canceled tomorrow (that makes two weeks in a row).

Sorry for the bad shot. Jaz is camera shy. I had to sneak this one!

I won!

Well ya'll, I won an award this week. It's called the STALKER AWARD. I was featured on the blog Orderly Conduct by Kelley Kirker as her "Featured Reader" (euphemism for STALKER). Kelley is a friend of a friend and another friend and another friend... in other words, we know a ton of the same people, but don't know each other. I found her blog through someone else's and found out that she lives with one of my best friends Chelsea Lesniewski from high school!! Anyway, stalking commenced, I became obsessed (she works at the coolest company AND runs her own organizing business) and told Chelsea that I loved her roommate, so I got a shout out on the blog. Now we are facebook friends and blog buddies so everything is official.

Can't wait to meet YOU, Kelley Kirker.

They'll Spend Just As Good!!

Sometimes in my line of work I happen to find myself in a Flower Shop. Usually you would think that a trip to the Florist would flow pretty smooth, at least I did. Until I realized that I had left my billfold (yes, this is a proper term for the item that some folks call a wallet. I also call it a wallet at times, but I prefer to use billfold. Check the definition here.) in the van, and the van was with Lindsey, and Lindsey was in Maryland at work. This normally wouldn't have been a problem but I had already scheduled a time to meet the people to give them the flowers and they were waiting on me. I looked around the house but we didn't have any paper money anywhere since we are primarily card users these days, it is 2010 you know. So I had three options. 1) write a check (but my license was in the billfold, so this wasn't happening) 2) see if the Flower guy would take my credit card number over the phone from Lindsey 3) pay in all change.
Option 2 was what I preferred, but just to be safe I went into my change bucket and grabbed a bunch of quarters.
I told him I only wanted to spend $35, so he marked down a $42 arrangement. Then, given the options of course the Flower Guy preferred cash. I told him all I had was a bunch of quarters. He responded with, "They'll spend just as good!". And right he was. So I counted out 133 quarters for him and one Sacagawea dollar piece. That totaled $34.25. He was pleased, and so was I. So pleased that I ended up hanging out there for about an hour talking with this guy. Great conversation, I think I'll be stopping by again, but with plastic next time.
