E and I met up in Richmond on Friday night and picked up our race packets with our fancy numbers and everything (and got our tshirts... size Large... so glad they asked me what size I wanted when I registered. No really, they did. I said small. And then they ran out.) Then Liz missed her connecting flight and didn't end up getting in until like 11:30 or 11:45pm. Which means we didn't get back to our hotel til after midnight. And then of course we stayed up talking til like 2am. And then it was just ridiculous to think that we would get up for the race in the morning. So what did we do? We splurged on a nice hotel... did valet parking and everything... and then laid in bed and turned on TV in the morning. And what to our surprise was being broadcast? THE RACE! So we just sat in bed and ate and WATCHED the race. And we saw the winner. I mean, how often do you actually SEE the winner. It's a good thing we stayed in bed :-)
After some shopping and meeting up with the boys and the dogs, E, Liz, Addy and I came back to King George for some REAL fun.
We really did have a great time... just playing games and sitting around talking. We had high hopes to take pictures together looking our very best... but pajamas prevail.
Nacho and Addy fell in love, of course. It was that picture of Nacho in a tie. It stole Addy's heart.
Possibly the funniest part of the whole weekend (okay, you probably had to be there) happened about 30 seconds before E was attempting to head out of KG back to Roanoke. We had the great idea of taking the dogs to the playground to run so Addy would be all tired on the trip home. Then Addy had the great idea of trying to go swimming in a puddle that was UNDER a bench that she had to army crawl along the ground to even get to. Then she just laid there and rolled and rolled in it.
E used her personal hairbrush to "clean" Addy before letting her in the car...
And then put that good ole' Size L Ukrops 10K tshirt to good use.
It was quite hilarious.
We really had such a good time hanging out. It's always so great to see good friends who just know you. Those are the friends that you laugh the hardest with. It was a great refreshing weekend. Thanks for coming girls!

TOO funny! E's personal brush?!?! The race t-shirt?!?! Seriously, how was that omitted from her blog? I guess she took the planes/trains/automobiles escapade instead?
1. i'm so proud of you. you ran that race just the way i would have!!
2. until you've walked a mile in the race director's shoes - don't criticize that they ran out of smalls. you have no idea how hard it is to place that order. you look at your race registrations and you see how many people want what size and then you pad those numbers for additional registrations that haven't come in yet and on the day of race packet pick up - everyone goes "oh. did i say 'large' - that's a 'large?' well clearly i meant the 'medium sized large' when i registered - so just give me a medium instead." and then the poor race director finds herself facing some guy saying "well i said i wanted a medium and you ran out. why didn't you order enough???" it's not easy! not easy i say!!!! a poor non profit can lose the entire event's profits trying to order enough t-shirts to keep all the stinking participants happy because no one can ever remember what size they ordered or what size they really wanted......
*breathe*
we deal in t-shirts a lot. it's given me a whole new set of issues.....
haha: sounds like a blast! So glad you got some quality girl time to max, relax, laugh (and be cool) with your friends!
