Easter is obviously always a really important holiday and a good reminder of what Christ accomplished for us. But for some reason this year I felt especially aware of just how important that accomplishment is. It gives me great confidence knowing that my Savior is the only one who has ever claimed to be God himself, and he proved it by raising from the grave and conquering death. If not for the resurrection, then my faith has nothing to stand on because it makes Jesus just like every other man who has claimed to be a Savior and then died, having accomplished nothing. Jesus, though, took on death, took on the punishment of my sin, and then DEFEATED it. He is Risen!
This year we stayed in town for Easter and got to enjoy and wonderful lunch on a beautiful day, hosted by a couple from our church, along with the rest of our church family . They invited the entire congregation over to their house yesterday afternoon for a fabulous meal and fellowship. The weather was so perfect... everyone enjoyed bocci ball, frisbee, volleyball, walking on the beach.... or like me, just sitting in the sun and chatting. It was perfect!
