We are due October 3, which puts me at about 11 weeks right now.
Yes, I've been sick. Pretty darn sick, if I do say so. But I know it could be a lot worse, and I know it's the sign of a growing baby, so I'm trying not to complain too much (thank goodness for Zofran). And I THINK I'm over the worst of it. At least today and yesterday haven't been too bad, so hopefully that's a sign of things being on the up-n-up.
We got to hear the heartbeat around 6 weeks, which was very cool. And we got this ultrasound picture where they claim that the little white blob to the left is a baby.
YES we are going to find out what we're having.
I'm hoping for a girl so that I can put her in cute little girl clothes. Mr. Practical is hoping for a boy so that we get all our nephews hand-me-downs. But we will both be ECSTATIC either way.
We will be delivering at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, MD, which is the town I work in. For as far away as King George is from everything, and considering the hospital is in another state than we live in, it actually only takes about 25 minutes to get there. It's definitely the closest one to where we live and it makes it convenient for appointments because I'm already out there for work.
I don't think I'm "showing" yet, but I am definitely doing the rubberband trick with my jeans already. It's just much more comfortable that way. In fact, I don't know why I haven't been doing that long before I was pregnant. This is me last week, so at 10 weeks.
Schub has been spoiling me like crazy. I haven't cooked in over a month, he goes to the grocery store at the drop of a hat, and he holds my hair back for me while I puke. He's been very patient with me while I complain and can't decide what I want to eat and don't feel like hanging out. He is seriously going to be the best dad ever.
We are really excited and are just praying for a healthy baby and grace in parenting an actual human being for the rest of its life. It is quite a daunting responsibility, but we know it will also be so fun and so rewarding.
Oh yes, and Nacho is very excited as well. I'm pretty sure he really does know because he has been sniffing my belly lately and always lays outside the bathroom door while I puke. What a great dog.

wahoo! so excited for you! you guys are going to be great parents! By the way, I love the pic below and totally didn't get it until this post -oh my brain....
I am sooo excited for you! You will both be amazing parents!!
1) Very Very Very exciting.
2) I love how you refer to Schub at one point as "Mr. Practical." A man after my own heart.
3) Poor Nacho won't be in the center of attention anymore. What will he do?
Mike was the best during that phase too. Even when we were broke and knew we shouldn't be eating out, he would suggest it just so I wouldn't have to cook. I am at 20 - we found out it is a girl today -and I feel great - so here's to hoping you are turning the trimester corner. The 2nd trimester is like...what's one of those drugs that makes you all energetic?...well, so I have a lot of energy, but I still can't think straight - it's all give and take.
I am a little late to respond buy I have to say I love this post, especially "Mr. Practical." I help load the truck/van if he gets his wish!

Congratulations :) We are so happy for you guys!! I've actually been thinking this kind of news was on the horizon for you guys and I hadn't looked at your blog in awhile and then my mom mentioned the other day that you were preggers. Apparently, she's my information guru : ) I'm so sorry you're a sick pup. Hang in there.
