A Labor-of-Love Day

I don't think I have many memorable Labor Days, but this is definitely one. or the only one. Schub and I went down to Raleigh where we seem to have a large concentration of friends. At least this weekend we did. In addition to the friends we already have there, there was a big group of clemson folks going up for a wedding on Sunday evening. Our good friend Bidwell is leaving in November to go to Afghanistan for a year, so we took this opportunity to see him for the last time in a while. We had an awesome awesome time. We went to a Raleigh Clemson Club event to watch the first game of the season, I got to see NC State's campus for the first time (i've been to the football stadium, but never to the campus), and we got to hang out with some of our best friends.

Bobby and Jenna were our warm hosts for the weekend. They have hardly lived one married week in their apartment, but they were still willing to open it up to all of us. This is one fun couple.

Clemson boys in Raleigh.

The Clemson club event was at a bowling alley, in Raleigh, that is owned by two brothers who are Clemson alums. So they opened up 12 lanes at half time for all the Clemson people to bowl for free. They even had socks for us.

If you can't tell, Schub is sporting his NC State belt buckle that matches the giant brick block 'S' on State's campus. Go wolfpack.

There are a bunch of engineers at State. I guess they come up with this kind of stuff where I can sit in a big hole and Bidwell and Schub can sit in a big hole like 100 feet away and we can have a conversation.

I got to see my wonderful, beautiful, fashionable, fun friend Cindy who I went to Argentina with in 2005. She is one of my favorite people on earth and I just don't get to see her enough. It was so so fun to see her in Raleigh!!

We had to make sure to give Bidwell a really hefty goodbye. Bidwell - I know you read this blog even though you don't comment - we will miss you so so much. Please be safe. We will pray for you constantly. You are a wonderful friend to both of us, and we're so glad we got to hang with you one more time before you leave to serve us.

Goodbye! Thank you Sherards for your wonderful hospitality. Can't wait to see you all again!
