Adelaide had ANOTHER weight check on Monday. She is now a big 13lbs!! ... which is back up to the 25th percentile where she started out when she was born. So hopefully we won't have to go in for weight checks every month anymore (although it has been nice to spread out her shots a little!).
Adelaide is super pensive and observant. She can sit in her little chair (THIS ONE given to us by Amber and Max Easton and we l.o.v.e. it) for a LONG time just watching people move around the kitchen.
But she is also really really smiley. Her laugh is SO cute, but she is still a tough cookie to crack. You have to do something REALLY funny.... like cough. Boy, she loved it when I coughed one time. But just one time. The cough is not funny the next day.
She really loves rice cereal and baby oatmeal. We are trying to introduce a few other things slowly, but she never seems to like it on the first try... except peas. Homegirl loves her some peas. Applesauce, not so much. But peas, yes please. She LOVES Nacho. Anything else ceases to be entertaining when Nacho enters the room. And he is so so great with her. He lets her pull on his jowls and his ears and never complains. Her biggest milestone recently is that she can sit up on her own now. It is SO cute. At first I thought it was just a tripod sit (holding herself up with her hands on the floor in front of her), but if we put toys in front of her she picks them right up and plays. She of course falls over after a few minutes, but I think her sitting is really impressive! She is uncontrollable when I lay her on the floor b/c she just rolls and rolls and rolls and ends up in the most precarious spots. Unfortunately she doesn't really enjoy the jumparoo that someone let us borrow... I guess she feels too confined. Because boy if she is on the floor and sees a toy (or a Nacho) that she really wants, she moves and squirms every which way she can to get to it. I am convinced she is going to be crawling tomorrow. She does this push up position thing with her hands on the floor and she gets up on her toes so that her whole body is off the floor otherwise. And sometimes she moves backwards instead of forwards, but I think that is a first step to crawling. I know it's early, but maybe in the next couple months!
Also, when she is in the bath, her hair is literally PAST her shoulders and on her back. I love it. And I think it might end up with a bit of a wave to it like her daddy. Man I would love if she had loose curly hair. But in reality, I would love it if she had super straight hair too. She can't go wrong. Oh, and her eyes are still blue like her daddy's too. I love that. She goes down for naps relatively easily (still taking 3/day), but night time is always better... she knows it's bedtime after her bath. She will not sit still for stories though. She just wants to eat the books. I try try try not to rock her to sleep, but sometimes it's just so sweet that I can't help it :-)
Her other great milestone is that she sleeps through the night now! She started doing this soon after she turned 4 months and it is amazing. She sleeps from about 7:30p to 7:30a... give or take. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first teeth because of course she would NEVER cry if not for the pain of teething... right?? just kidding. But I do want to blame every unnecessary cry on teething, even though I don't honestly see any visible sign of teeth. She is pulling on her ear and chewing like crazy, though.
Adelaide, you are SO sweet and such an happy baby. I cannot believe how big you're getting and all the new things you're always learning. We love you more and more every day! You make us both smile all.the.time. We are so thankful that God gave us YOU!
sorry for the wordiness... but hopefully there were enough cute pictures interspersed that it kept your attention!
