22 inches long (50th percentile)
9 lbs 1 oz ("somewhere between the 10th and 25th percentile"... which probably means like the 11th, but the nurse was trying to make us feel good about our little peanut.)
We have been having a hard time feeding her for over 2 weeks now. She just all of a sudden started more or less refusing to nurse... like, she would nurse for 3 minutes and then be done and then scream and scream if I tried to put her back on. You would have thought i was poisoning her. At first we thought it was just that she was starting to like the bottle better for some reason and that we just needed to retrain her to nurse. But after 2 weeks of still not eating, i don't think that was the problem. The doctor seems to think that her reflux is so bad that she has just developed a negative association with nursing and probably her throat burning. Soooo, we now have to feed her every 3 hours - even during the night, which is awful b/c she was sleeping like 7 hrs at a time. We have to make sure she get 4-5oz, so we either give her a bottle, or I nurse as long as I can (she'll rarely go more than 5 min) and then top her off with 2oz or so. Considering she's probably only been getting 2oz at a time for several weeks, it is taking FOREVER to get her to drink 4oz, so it has made for a long couple of days. And we've only been doing it for 2 days! We go back for a weight check on Monday.
Other than that this girl is happy and healthy. She is really following lots of things with her eyes, she is smiling a ton and squealing a little, she is steadying her head when I sit her up, and she sleeps like a champ.
There you go for the baby update! Here she is napping on the floor looking as sweet as ever this morning :-)

She is SO cute and I want to meet her!
Lindsey, sorry to hear about the troubles. Quick question... has your doc taken any food out of your diet that might be causing tummy problems. I had the same thing with Ro, and it ended up she couldn't tolerate my prenatal vitamin. Look into possible culprits if they haven't already. This too shall pass!
TOTALLY went through that with Kate at about the same time. It was as if my milk was poison. SAME THING! She would only nurse really well in the middle of the night or right when she woke up in the mornings. I just kept on keeping on and she grew out of it. I'm thinking around month 3 (at the latest) it was all good.
Hey Lindsey, sorry about the nursing problems. However, 10th percentile isn't that low. She may just not be that hungry. Christina was teeny tiny for ages (like off the bottom of the charts), but she was always happy, so we just went with it. I know that is easy to say looking back, at the time I would stress out over her not eating enough (ask Nathan, there were a lot of crying nights). But she turned out just fine. If she has the oppertunity to eat, and you are producing milk, she may just be little. Not like you and Jason are exactly huge!! Hope things improve. The Esbecks.
she is so cute! sorry you are having problems nursing. lily spit up a lot and i tried to eliminate all kinds of things from my diet. i think it helped some. i just want to encourage you to keep at it. you will be so glad you did. do you ever read kellymom.com or la leche league website? i found great, helpful info on them. hope things improve for you soon. you are doing a great job, she is beautiful!
