When I was drying off his paws I noticed that he had been playing a little to hard. All of the running around in the snow bare foot, rubbed some raw spots on the pads of his feet. So...
I cleaned them out with peroxide and put some Neosporin on them to heal them up. I didn't want to get any grease on the couch or Nacho to eat it so I put these socks on his feet. I think he liked them.
Do you think I'm crazy? I think shepherds do this kind of thing for sheep. Anointing their wounds with oil. That's what a pastor is, right, a shepherd? Just practicing the care of God's creatures. Maybe I'll have to figure out some way to protect his paws so we can go play again later this afternoon. There's got to be some way to make some dog gloves or something. Don't they do that for sled dogs running in the Iditarod?

hahaha wow. Poor Nacho's feet. You guys are taking good care of him.
I suggested to Hunter this morning that we buy 4 baby Timberlands for Stuckey to walk in snow with :)
jason - they make doggie booties to protect doggie feetsies from the elements. visit petsmart and buy nacho a christmas present!
and check with your vet before you buy rock salt. okay. i may be a bit late on that one. but do it anyway. vets have difference of opinions on rock salt vs ice melt. ice melt is chemical and could be dangerous if the dog licks paws. but salt can cause drying and cracking and stuff. one is better than the other and i can never remember which. so call the vet....
nacho is such a lucky puppy!
Nacho getting the TLC he deserves! I love the photo of him sitting on the couch with the blanket over him. He looks quite regal. The snow photo's are beautiful. Good luck finding snow boots for him. I saw these industrial boots on line at www.ultrapaws.com
